The Third Sector

The Third Sector comprises charities, voluntary and community organisations, not-for-profit companies, industrial and provident societies and social enterprises. They fulfil a wide range of roles including delivering frontline services, campaigning, and providing resources such as grants and volunteers. Third Sector Organisations (TSOs) operate across many fields of activity including education, health, and environment; and serve a diverse set of beneficiary groups including children and young people, elderly and people with disabilities. The launch of the GDS Third Sector Database provides an opportunity for TSOs to undertake “market analyses” and “peer benchmarking” to strengthen their impact.
